First Grade



First Grade News 

Mrs. Diaz was born is Chicago, Illinois and moved to Florida in 1990. She has worked at Azalea Park Elementary for the past 16 years in many different positions. However, she always wanted to be a teacher and after receiving her degree from Columbia College she reached her dream. She looks forward to many more years of teaching. 


Mr. Hungerford grew up in New York. He was a swimmer throughout high school. This led to jobs as a lifeguard and swim instructor. He decided to become a teacher because he enjoyed teaching kids to swim. He attended State University College at Brockport and then moved to Florida in 2003 to teach at Azalea Park.


Mrs. Lippincott grew up all over the United States because her father was a pilot in the Navy. She was a nurse for over 10 years, but felt her true calling was teaching. She then went back to school and graduated from UCF. She will begin her 20th year of teaching for Orange County this year. This will be her third year at Azalea Park. She loves to read!


Ms. Pouncey is a New York native but grew up in South Florida. Ms. Pouncey graduated from University of Central Florida in 2000. She has been a 1st Grade Teacher here at Azalea Park since 2003. She is a mom of 3 boys and a baby girl. She enjoys spending time with her family and being a sports mom with her boys. 


Mrs. Risley grew up in West Virginia and moved to Florida after graduating high school. She fell in love with reading at an early age and hoped to teach and inspire others--as her own teachers had done. Mrs. Risley earned her degree in Elementary Education from UCF and joined the Azalea Park Panthers in 2013. She enjoys captivating her first graders with a treasured book and encouraging their uninhibited curiosity about the world around them.


Miss Wolford was born in Michigan and raised in Orlando. She attended Azalea Park Elementary from 3rd through 6th grades. She returned to Azalea Park in 1988 to work at the Extended Day program and as a teacher’s assistant while attending Valencia Community College and the University of Central Florida. She has taught 2nd and 1st grades at Azalea Park since 2001. So, she has been at Azalea Park most of her life. The students, school, her family, and her 2 cats and 2 dogs are very important to her. Miss Wolford loves college football. Go Gators! Go Knights!
