Meet Our New Principal

๐พ Greetings, Panther Families!
I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Azalea Park Elementary.
My name is Yashira Maldonado, and I bring over a decade of school leadership experience, serving as both a principal and assistant principal. My family and I relocated from New York to Orlando last year, and I recently had the privilege of serving as principal at another OCPS elementary school.
While I love education, my greatest joy is being a mom to three amazing children. They are my reason and remind me every day why our work in schools matters so much.
As a proud Puerto Rican, one of my favorite symbols is the coquí, a tiny frog known for its big voice. No matter where it goes, it sings its song. That reminds me that every child has a unique voice, gifts, and purpose—and my hope is that Azalea Park is a place where every Panther feels seen, valued, and empowered to shine.
I am especially excited to serve in the same community where my family lives and worships. I look forward to building relationships with our students, families, staff, and community partners as we begin this journey together.
