Art

Our Visual Arts program is based on the elements of art and the principles of design. The curriculum is based on the National Art Standards and Sunshine State Standards in Art. Students will develop skills in creating artwork based upon observation, personal experience, and imagination. Students will grow in their ability to experiment creatively, discover culturally, and examine aesthetics and criticism.

Our Visual Arts students will:

· Explore and experience a wide variety of media, techniques, tools and processes in a safe and responsible manner.

· Experience written and verbal analysis of personal and historic art work as a part of each lesson

· Employ a visual art vocabulary to discuss personal and historic art work.

· Examine a variety of cultural and historical art through gallery, studio, and museum tours

· Effectively research and explore the range of careers that require creative knowledge and skills for problem solving.

· Establish connections between the visual arts and other disciplines in the curriculum.
